Key Takeaways from SeaAhead’s Demo Day & Pilot Showcase
Biomaterials for coral restoration. Physics-based flood modeling. Marine materials made from mushrooms.
These were just some of the innovations featured at SeaAhead’s biggest events of the year—our BlueSwell Demo Day, which celebrated the graduation of 7 startups from Cohort VI, and SeaAhead Pilot Showcase, which highlighted 13 pilot-ready startups innovating in coastal resilience and asset protection.
Thank you to the hundreds who joined us in Boston’s Seaport District for these events. Check out key takeaways, photos, and details on the featured startups below—and let us know if you’d like an introduction

BlueSwell Demo Day 2026
BlueSwell is built around a very specific belief: that founders don’t need just capital, mentorship, and connections—they also need a cohort.
This five-month program enables founders to convert their ocean-focused startups into profitable, sustainable businesses. BlueSwell has supported nearly 40 startups to date.
The theme for Cohort VI was Engineering Ocean Resilience, and we were thrilled to have this year’s seven graduating companies take the stage in June for our annual Demo Day. We were also joined by Richard Davey, CEO of the Massachusetts Port Authority, for a fireside chat focused on the organization’s innovation needs and strategic planning.
Thank you to our BlueSwell sponsors and partners: Builders Vision, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, Massachusetts Port Authority, Arbella Insurance, Citizens Private Bank, Foley Hoag, Giant Shoulders, Zephyr Business Group, and the Cambridge Innovation Center.
SeaAhead Pilot Showcase 2026
We started the SeaAhead Pilot program because we recognized a systemic disconnect in the market between promising technologies and real-world implementation.
SeaAhead Pilot supports bluetech startups in planning and scoping pilots and connects them with prospective pilot partners. This year’s Pilot Showcase—focused on coastal resilience and coastal asset protection—spotlighted 13 pilot-ready startups in front of 100 potential customers and investors.
In addition to pitches from these startups, the event included panels focused on ports at the front line of coastal resilience, non-profits as not just ecosystem stewards but also critical startup partners, and asset management in the context of climate-related risks. Check out the two-day agenda here.
Thank you to our SeaAhead Pilot sponsors and partners: The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, 11th Hour Racing, Massachusetts Port Authority, Waterson Terminal Services, the World Wildlife Fund US Oceans team, the Cambridge Innovation Center, Foley Hoag, and Zephyr Business Group.
Each year, these events are focused on building connections between bluetech startups and the customers, investors, and policymakers who can help their solutions get to market.
